Job Description:

We are looking for a motivated Entry-Level Data Engineer to help us develop and maintain our data infrastructure. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and data scientists to build scalable data pipelines, manage cloud-based systems, and process data to deliver insights that drive business decisions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design and implement reliable and efficient data pipelines that automate the flow of data from various sources to our storage systems.
  • Data Integration: Work with APIs, databases, and data lakes to integrate data from multiple sources into our centralized platform.
  • Data Processing and Transformation: Write scripts and use data processing tools to clean, transform, and organize data for analysis.
  • Database Support: Assist in database management and optimization to ensure smooth data access and retrieval.
  • Collaboration with Teams: Partner with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to develop data solutions and optimize business processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor data workflows and suggest improvements for speed, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document your work and communicate data solutions and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical teams.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Solid understanding of SQL for querying databases.
    • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or Java for data manipulation.
    • Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
    • Understanding of basic data processing frameworks like Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities with an eagerness to learn new techniques and solve complex challenges.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to work with large datasets and ensure their accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
  • Team Player: Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts or platforms like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Basic experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Understanding of containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
