VoIP Network Engineer

Employment Information

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage VoIP networks to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Configure and deploy VoIP systems and devices, including IP phones, gateways, and servers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve VoIP network issues, ensuring minimal disruption to communication services.
  • Optimize VoIP traffic flow and manage call quality across the network.
  • Monitor VoIP network performance and provide proactive solutions to improve reliability.
  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to integrate VoIP systems with other network services.
  • Work with vendors to evaluate, test, and implement new VoIP technologies.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the VoIP network to identify opportunities for enhancements.
  • Provide support and training for users on the effective use of VoIP systems.
  • Document VoIP network configurations, best practices, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Participate in network security assessments to ensure VoIP systems are protected against threats.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in VoIP network engineering, implementation, or support.
  • Strong knowledge of VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, H.323, etc.) and systems.
  • Experience with VoIP infrastructure devices such as PBX, SIP proxies, gateways, and IP phones.
  • Proficiency with VoIP troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.).
  • Familiarity with quality of service (QoS) and traffic prioritization for VoIP networks.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, NAT, and routing.
  • Good knowledge of network security protocols and methods for securing VoIP communications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Italian and English.

Preferred Skills:

  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or similar in VoIP/networking.
  • Hands-on experience with specific VoIP platforms (e.g., Asterisk, FreePBX, Cisco CallManager).
  • Experience with cloud-based VoIP solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting techniques for VoIP and SIP trunking.
